Development Fund

The Development Fund is designed to fund collaborative projects which will have an impact on the organisational culture for postgraduate research students within a group of Schools, Faculties or across the University.

Up to £5,000 can be awarded for any one project and applications for seed funding are welcome.

Projects dealing with the following topics are particularly encouraged:

  • Supervision or mentoring of PGR students
  • Enhancing PGR graduate employability, both academic and non-academic
  • Enhancing PGR communities (of any sort, including virtual, interdisciplinary, etc)
  • The public researcher

Eligibility

All staff are eligible to apply for funding. Students may also apply, but applications must be led by a member of staff.

Applications should involve multiple Schools and/or Units. Cross-Faculty projects are especially welcome.

Applications

Applications submitted without a completed form or via email will not be considered.Applications require the endorsement and signature of the relevant Head(s) of School/Unit or the Director of Postgraduate Studies. The signatory, on behalf of the applicant, should submit the application to [email protected].

Conditions

Participants will be required to submit a report evaluating the success of the project, the scale of change it has brought about, and the benefits to the postgraduate experience. The University is required to account for money spent and therefore a report on the outcome of every project must be submitted.

Participants will also be asked to present a poster, deliver a presentation at a dissemination event, or produce a piece of media for the webpage.
