Online PG students
St Leonard’s College (StLC) is the University’s community for all postgraduate students, whether in St Andrews or online. Once they have completed online matriculuation, all postgraduate students are automatically members of StLC and can take part in our activities and use our facilities.
As well as our flexible online postgraduate courses, we provide a number of services and organise a variety of events aimed specifically at postgraduate students. These include support through scholarships and funding, skills and training sessions and workshops, and the St Leonard’s Community Scheme, which pairs PG students so they can make connections and build a supportive community.
We want to ensure that all our students have the same opportunities and receive equal service regardless of your location.
Activities for online PGT students
St Leonard’s College will be providing events in Semester 1 for online students and any other PG students who prefer to attend online. Visit our community and events web page, or follow the College on Facebook and X (formerly Twitter) to keep up to date with our events.
Shut Up and Write sessions
These regular sessions offer postgraduate students the opportunity to focus on writing, whether you are working on a dissertation, a PhD thesis, or something else. Semester 1 session dates will be released soon on Facebook and X (formerly Twitter).
Postgraduate Café
Weekly Postgraduate Cafés invite PGs to grab a hot drink and a biscuit and join College staff online to discuss all things postgrad. StLC will sometimes invite colleagues from across the University to these sessions to share opportunities and details about services available to PGs.

Services and support for PGT online students
As a St Andrews student, you will be part of our vibrant student community. You can either connect online or, if you are ever in St Andrews, join us in-person.

The ASC (Advice and Support Centre) should be your first point of contact for information on any student matter. The ASC team will either answer your question or arrange an online appointment for you with a member of the wider Student Services team.
You will be able to use the University’s online library resources, which provide access to journals, eBooks, and electronic databases 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Library staff are available to chat online between 9am and 5pm to answer questions and provide support.
We know how important it is to steer your career progression, whether you are starting out on your career journey, are looking to develop within a role, or want to change careers. Our dedicated Careers Centre can help you to navigate your next steps. Take advantage of skills workshops, networking opportunities, and expert advice.
Take care of your wellbeing through Student Services. Look after your mental health with online wellbeing workshops and SilverCloud, which offers a range of self-guided cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) courses.
The University’s Chaplaincy service live streams all St Salvator’s chapel services and offers pastoral care to all students in-person and online, regardless of their faith or philosophy of life.
If you have a passion for music, you can attend a range of concerts online or improve your playing skills with one-to-one virtual lessons from the Music Centre (costs apply).
