Applications for Dissertation Writing Retreat and Thesis Writing Retreat are now open!!!
We are pleased to announce that applications for the Dissertation Writing Retreat and Thesis Writing Retreat are now open!! Places are offered on a first come first served basis, and can be made on PDMS.
The Dissertation Writing Retreat will run in person from 29 July to 30 July 2025 and the Thesis Writing Retreat will run alongside in person from 29 July to 31 July 2025.
These once in a year events are designed to help Master students kick start their dissertation writing process and provide late-stage doctoral students to get over that final hurdle or kick start their writing progress if it has stalled.
The retreats offer the opportunity to join other postgraduate students in a supportive, structured intensive writing opportunity. With the help of their peers and an experienced facilitator, retreat participants will power through writer’s block, dissertation/thesis fatigue to achieve significant progress on their work.
You are eligible for the Dissertation Retreat if you are:
- A Masters student at the University of St Andrews
- Ready to write up your final dissertation/project
You are eligible for the Thesis Retreat if you are:
- A current Postgraduate Researcher(PhD/MPhil/MSt(Res)/MSc(Res)/MRes) at the University of St Andrews
- Have told your supervisor that you plan to attend
- Be able to attend in person for all three days of the event
- Have completed the majority of your research or data collection for the material you are focusing on and be ready to write at the start of the event
- Be able to complete pre-work to prepare for the event
The ultimate aim of the Retreats is to write a significant amount of first draft material.
