Commemoration of St Leonard – Sunday 3 November 2024
As in every November, St Leonard’s Postgraduate College and the University Chaplaincy warmly invite all postgraduate students to a service of commemoration for the feast day of St Leonard.
This year’s service will take place on Sunday 3 November 2024 at 6pm in St Leonard’s Chapel. Those wishing to take part in the academic procession should be at chapel no later than 5.45pm, wearing gowns.
The sermon ‘The saint in the mirror?’ will be given by Dr Charles Warren, Associate Provost (Students).
The service will feature a new musical composition written specifically for the occasion and to mark the 50th Anniversary of St Leonard’s College. The piece is called ‘Canticle of Blessed Hope‘, and was composed by Luis Meseguer Mira, a music composer, choir conductor and cultural journalist, whose “music is a bridge between the earthly and the spiritual”. Luis is studying for an MLitt in Sacred Music at the University of St Andrews, and holds an Assistant Conductor Scholarship, a Scholarship by Fundación SGAE and a Scholarship by Alfred Dunhill Links Foundation.
A reception will be held following the service at St Leonard’s College, Old Burgh School, Muir Seminar Room.
